I really like the idea of content related ads. I don't mind ads as long as they don't interfere with the use of the site. Hope you can continue for another 20 years.

Michael,
I've tried a few products over the years, and about 4 years ago I started using ThreadMaster epoxy. Mix it up, put in on, put the rod in a turner, and forget it for about two hours, fairly hassle free, but there are many others out there that also do a good job. Maybe start by doing a search in the internet.

I have been using Flex-Coat high build to coat my rods and not pleased with the finish I am getting. Some times it is uneven like it is not flowing out like it should. What brand of finish do you use to get the thin coats?

0:41 instant bite! That was nice. Always wanted to try catching barbel on flies, but in the area I live, there's hardly a spot similar to this one. Nice spot by the way.

A fly rod is a lever designed to accelerate a load. The load (effective resistance) and degree of acceleration are determined by the fly caster. It's a poor workman who blames his tools.

I don't mind the ads the way they are now, they don't detract from the information. I hope it works out for you and you can recover some of your costs.

Hello Martin,

No problem at all with the ads, it is good for the site.
It already has cost you and the other owners a lot of money the last 20 years.

Best regards,

Tom Biesot

Good GFF people,

As you can see I have taken the consequence of the positive feedback on ads and started rolling out Google ads on our pages. It will slowly go though to all pages as the pretty hefty caching system gets emptied and refreshed.

Thanks for your support!

Some years ago on a Sunday morning I was flyfishing in the Main river in Frankfurt. Two boys where rowing on the river. When they had passed me one said to the other:"Did you see his rod? He is fishing with a damaged rod"!
I imagine that they didn't see any fly rod before......

I really don t care about ads,
I just love the GFF site and it's contents, And i have absolutly NP with ads.

Mabey you should make order some caps and sell them with GFF on the cap (i would love it :P)
If you make only 1 of 2 bucks on a cap I think your bills for the site are payed for a year to come?

Since you got this far …

The GFF money box

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
